Last night’s sunset was a dilly! When the winds came in, the cloud formations starting getting interesting; then the color came. We were driving, so all the color shots were from a moving car. I was stopped briefly on the highway at a red light in front of the Shell station for that one. Now if I had been driving . . .
Here’s how it started:
This is how it developed–riotous gold, maroon, orange, etc. to the west and pinks and powder blues to the east and southeast. The north was ablaze with swaths of deep rose, as well, but since my hubby was driving, it was hard to shoot across him (or in his face) to get a shot. Though I tried!

Wow, these are simply breathtaking. The clouds and the colors are incredible…
It looks like the wind might be bringing in another such day. I will be ready!
I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures! You have a truly lovely blog – your photography and your words are beautiful, so I’ll most definitely be coming back for more
So glad you are stopping by!
The one third from the bottom is my favourite. That being said, they’re all beautiful shots!
Wish I could’ve gotten the man to stop. It’s hard to shoot in the care!
Wow, the second picture (the one with the tree) is simply beautiful. I adore photography, too! Thank you for sharing.
Skies like that are a happy pill for me!
If this is what a fallen world looks like, I can’t wait to see the new heavens and Earth!
My thoughts exactly! I always think if we are so awed by the beauty in brokenness, how much more so was it before and will it be again. I’m working on a blog about that.
Spectacular.
It was an incredible sight all around the valley. Now if only I could have gotten the man to pull over!
I am really enjoying your photo’s. Seems you enjoy quite a bit of the views I do. I have always loved clouds. They release a feeling inside of me, I guess I would call it soaring spirit. Thank you for taking me to that feeling today.
Trees and clouds! I love the perspective from earth to sky. Of course if I could get consistently shots from sky to earth (in the clouds!), I may like that better.
A wonderful succession of shots showing the forming sunset and its aftermath.
I hate boring blue skies! Give me color and clouds.
Absolutely beautiful. I know what you mean about taking pictures in a moving car… I want to find a bumper sticker that says, “Warning: Birders in car. May make unexpected stops!” I did find one that said, “Mobile bird blind”.
We did find someone driving around like a birder yesterday, so went to inspect. We see the bazooka camera hanging out the window, but he was photographing deer. Nice, but not what we were looking for.
I am trying to take my camera with me all the time because I don’t want to miss something!
It weighs down my purse, though.
That is one thing from keeping me from getting a bigger camera, it’s got to fit in the purse and I am not buying a bigger purse.
I’m with you. How about a both / and!
Check this out! The lens we saw yesterday was not quite this big and the photographer used his car as a stabilizer.

You’re kidding, right! That is crazy!
Amazing what you find when you type in “honkin’ big telephoto lens”. HA. Actually, someone posted a link to that picture in a forum I was active in, so I was trying to find that specific photo.
Strange [and beautiful] cloud formations!!
We have interesting wind patterns here that bring great clouds!

Love it!
gorgeous!
I love skies like that!
Nice shots. Especially from inside a moving car. Kudos to you!
At least we had a red light at the Shell!!!!
someone else obsessed with the sky…
!!!
We had a sunset like that several months ago. Something unusual must have happened that day because both the sunrise and sunset were spectacular and went on forever.

P.S. Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!
Fun when it happens.
Lucky you, a red light. Makes it so much easier to get the “perfect” shot. Kidding of course, but when it comes to sunsets, there is no time. It there and gone again is a blink of the eye. I continue my love affair with the glories of the sky and am so impressed that God included them it in our days.
SImple things do bring needed joy.
so colourfull…amazing…
Omg I loooooove these pics!! I have a serious cloud obsession so I’m totally drooling right now haha.
Thanks for visiting me, btw
Clouds are a passion of mine!
Glad to know I’m not alone! I bought a big book on weather that explained everything about clouds and people made fun of me saying it was one of those “bathroom books” *hmph* >_<
I have books, too; but what was really fun was taking a junior college class on weather! Studying was never so much fun–except maybe English.
Amazing series!
Thanks. It was quite a show!
