In the Pink . . . and Orange and Gold and Maroon and . . .

1-26-12

Last night’s sunset was a dilly!  When the winds came in, the cloud formations starting getting interesting; then the color came.  We were driving, so all the color shots were from a moving car.  I was stopped briefly on the highway at a red light in front of the Shell station for that one.  Now if I had been driving . . .

Here’s how it started:

At work

This is how it developed–riotous gold, maroon, orange, etc. to the west and pinks and powder blues to the east and southeast.  The north was ablaze with swaths of deep rose, as well, but since my hubby was driving, it was hard to shoot across him (or in his face) to get a shot.  Though I tried! :-)

The one third from the bottom is my favourite. That being said, they’re all beautiful shots!

  3. Wow, the second picture (the one with the tree) is simply beautiful. I adore photography, too! Thank you for sharing. :)

If this is what a fallen world looks like, I can’t wait to see the new heavens and Earth!

  5. I am really enjoying your photo’s. Seems you enjoy quite a bit of the views I do. I have always loved clouds. They release a feeling inside of me, I guess I would call it soaring spirit. Thank you for taking me to that feeling today.

A wonderful succession of shots showing the forming sunset and its aftermath.

  7. Absolutely beautiful. I know what you mean about taking pictures in a moving car… I want to find a bumper sticker that says, “Warning: Birders in car. May make unexpected stops!” I did find one that said, “Mobile bird blind”.
We did find someone driving around like a birder yesterday, so went to inspect. We see the bazooka camera hanging out the window, but he was photographing deer. Nice, but not what we were looking for.

  8. Check this out! The lens we saw yesterday was not quite this big and the photographer used his car as a stabilizer.

We had a sunset like that several months ago. Something unusual must have happened that day because both the sunrise and sunset were spectacular and went on forever.

Lucky you, a red light. Makes it so much easier to get the “perfect” shot. Kidding of course, but when it comes to sunsets, there is no time. It there and gone again is a blink of the eye. I continue my love affair with the glories of the sky and am so impressed that God included them it in our days.

  18. I have books, too; but what was really fun was taking a junior college class on weather! Studying was never so much fun–except maybe English. :-)

I would love to hear from you!
