These are my husband’s hands, which I quilted into a white on white wall hanging. The hands releasing the butterfly symbolizes freedom.

What a beautiful quilt.
Thank you. It is a small piece. I have another bigger white on white in an older blog. What’s fun is you get to draw and quilt too.

It’s here.
That is so cool. I’m sure you saw my “doll clothes” from previous post, so you’ve got to know I’m so impressed! You are one multi-talented lady!
Bad housekeeper, though. You can see why on my other craft / art blogs. http://apronhead.wordpress.com/2011/10/31/ok-im-a-bad-housekeeper-part-ii/
I must have missed your post. I’ll go back and check.
That is beautiful. I am assuming hand-quilting? I do not have the patience for that, but have done a little machine quilting.
I hand quilt and machine piece. White on white whole cloth is fun because there are no seams to mess with–just draw and quilt.
I wrote “Hand-quilting”, how punny! LOL I didn’t notice that before. I had never thought of the ease of whole cloth. Maybe when I am older and too feeble for birding.
I had the hardest time sewing this winter, I kept walking away from the machine to watch the birds. Have you ever used a treadle machine? They are great fun. It’s what I use. Once I found a “bobbin tire”, and no longer had to hand wind bobbins, I could not ask for anything more.
My mom used to have one. I kind of wish I had it, but when they moved off the farm they got rid of it.
Do you have a Freecycle in your area? A friend told me a treadle was offered and I mentioned how much I want a working one. She went back onto Freecycle, found it was taken, but asked for another and now I have a beautiful machine. With my friend, I traded her my working electric since she drove quite some miles to pick the treadle up and bring it to my place.
We have similar things. Glad you got one that works well. MIght be hard getting parts, though.
I thought about that, but there is a local man who can repair these. I’ve found some new accessories, like a walking foot for machine quilting, will work on my old treadle.
Good.
Beautiful. I have tried for years to write a song about my husband’s hands, and it always falls flat – I haven’t been able to do it yet. Perhaps I should take up quilting?
I want to have a quilt like that…
Your hands are always busy.
I need to get back to my quilting. They have been busy doing other things of late.
Ah, they must have been busy with the camera’s shutter and such. And the old cam had to be taken for drives or else it would sulk in a corner.
btw, that quilt’s nicely done.
Weird. I keep finding your posts in spam. WP doesn’t like you.
Yeah, I guess so, too.
Love this, Lilly. Beautiful quilting. You have so many different talents.
Thanks. Need to get back to it.
I put this in my favorites to show anyone who will look. This is great Lilly. God Bless, SR
Thanks.
This is, in a word – Fabulous! It’s a fabulous interpretation of the weekly challenge – hands. You are a creature of many talents Lilly!
Then I should be rich, right.
For sure! Let’s get the word out!
Ah, an optimist!
This is absolutely beautiful and totally unique. Thanks for sharing!
You did a great job on this quilt!
Thanks a lot!
Reaching out and sharing your gifts, for real. Stabbingly beautiful.
Toni
Very talented!
~~Thanks!!
