Once again, I woke with a migraine. As I lay “suffering” (add strings here), I got poems forming in my head. I don’t know if it’s creative genius, Motrin-induced stupor, or just crazy; but at any rate. this is my morning haiku for yu.
Winter’s sun–slant and
glistening off memory
of new hope-filled days.

I love it. It’s beautiful. And never, when suffering with a migraine, have I felt poetic!!
Beautiful image and words … I suffer migraine too and never feel a creative impulse during or on the migraine hangover day.
I’m not feeling too creative right now, even after a bunch of coffee. Think I’ll hit the couch.
Sorry for yours. Migraines are never fun.
I did a post what migraines are like so non-sufferers might understand what we go through “Neon Lightening and Razor-Edged Crystals” (http://cherylandrews.wordpress.com/2012/08/28/neon-lightning-and-razor-edged-crystals). Would love to know what you think!
Very informative post.
Not knowing exactly the triggers kind of drives me nuts. Upper cervical chiropractor csre has eliminated a lot. But stress and hormones are very much a part. Argh. The after effects are as bad as the pain–the cloudiness, wooziness, big doughy head!! Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day. Must be ready to administer midterms.
By the way, I could not watch that video even for past a sec!!!!
I do not wish other migraines on you,but this one unleashed something special.
Thanks. Suffering for art.
I wonder about some of the imagery. ” slanting” sounds migrainy, as if it’s hard to focus normally. The “glistening” image could be irritating to watch when you’re struck with a migraine. Am I reading the wrong meaning into this haiku? It’s almost as if the migraine wrote it.
I have to give the migraine credit where credit is due.
Actually, the image came first, remembering this picture I took in the Rocky foothills at Christmas. The poem came out of the image.
I like the poem but I appreciate that the migraine is probably not worth it it just for that. Bad luck.
Yes, I would prefer words without pain.
Wow. That from a migraine? All I can think of in the midst of a migraine is, well, I shouldn’t repeat it here. Very nice Haiku!
Thanks. The trick is opening my eyes wide enough to try and write it down before it escapes me.
Sorry you suffer from those migraines….I’ve rarely had a headache of any kind. Like your photo and haiki poem. I used to have a pc game I loved to play about haiki….but the mac refuses to have anything to do with it.
My hubby has never had headaches either, but he is sympathetic and that always counts for something.
On the television last night they were talking about migraines. I suffer from them too so I can sympathise with you. The scientists were saying that they are getting very good results from people taking Vitamin B and Folic Acid. They didn’t mention the dosage as it’s not on the market yet. I already take Vitamin B but thought I might give the Folic Acid a try as well. Hope this helps you.cheers Judy
love the Haiku
Thanks for the tip. I take B12 and B6 and eat a lot of whole grains, but I have not been taking a complex for a while, which would have the folic acid. Worth a try.
I empathize. Beautiful image and poem.
Thanks. It is 6:32 p.m., and I’m finally starting to feel somewhat normal. Argh.
You certainly picked a great picture to go with the mood; that tree branch looks like it has a headache, too.
And is as cold as this house, too.
You been taking ‘Acetaminophen’ again? That always makes me cold.
No, it has to do with hubby and thermostat control!
Sometimes pain rouses the muse poetically…
Right up there with being delusional.
Beautiful post thank you for share it for us
