Thought for the Day–from work

I have discovered that if I leave my stack of “get to it later” papers on my desk long enough, they kind of take care of themselves.  Folks who had urgent needs have either called or given up, and other papers become redundant with a new phase of accountability.

So I’m shredding from now on at the first!  That’s almost as good as a pay raise because I reduce my workload.

In my opinion, shredding is an act of bravery. I truly admire your courage! 🙂

  2. I am with you on this one; I shred stuff weekly, hate unnecessary paperwork!

Starting now, I am adopting your method!! I fell so far behind when mom was so sick and there were not enough hours in a day. At this point I have boxes and boxes of her stuff plus my stacks that needed attention, but now I can’t remember why, that I have been tackling on the weekends. Wow, it feels so good to be out from under the clutter. Trying HARD to remember the adage, “Only handle each piece ONCE.” Really it takes less time than hunting for it when I remember it later. 😉

    • There are always so many things to do and inevitabley some papers, tasks, etc. get shoved aside. I finally got through the work stack, and now I’m starting on the home office stack! I have school articles that are good helps, but I need to think realistically what I can actually use! And those need to be organized in a fashion such that I know where to find them.

I love the sound the shredder makes.

I constantly make a vow to do just this … open the mail, deal with it, shred, file …. but somehow, I quickly end up with stacks and piles and then files of the papers I moved from the stacks and piles … and oh yes, your post reminds me that when I go home next week I will have 7 weeks’ worth of mail to sort through. Maybe I will simply sit in front of the shredder.

I would love to hear from you!
