Fun photos from what looks like a fun day!
Always a fun day with my grandbaby!
Hey! You with the blue fingers… Yeah you! Stop feeding the ducks white bread! It can kill them!
Sorry, already saw folk feeding people food to ducks. This is a sore spot with me.
They were perfect strangers, honest. What is a good thing to feed them, by the way?
Duck or game bird feed. The only place we’ve seen it is at the farm stores. You can do chicken or layer feed, but make sure there is no medication in it. Some put anti-biotics in the feed and that can kill ducks. Wild bird seed like you feed the birds is not good for ducks because the seeds can get caught in their crops.
Almost forgot about this, our ducks like lettuce. That’s why we cannot let them in the gardens, they’d eat the leaves and our Pekin eats cherry tomatoes, too. If we have older lettuce or leftovers, we will break it up for the ducks.
When we go back, I will think of those foods. We had no food with us, but for years that’s all I have seen folks feed the ducks, up here at our lake and down there in Long Beach. Since I am so sensitive to the empty carb thing, I wondered about that, but wan’t sure what they would like. Your suggestions are good ones.
Looks like fun!
Yes!
Great pictures, beautiful day, priceless memories!
Thanks!!
Why was the former ugly duckling left out of your title? 🙂 Neat shots Lily
🙂
Outstanding pix, especially the ones that sensitively concentrate on the intricacies of feathers…
Thanks. I just think the pattern is incredible.

************Ah, ha! I knew I’d used that title before!
I never used to be much of a “nature” person–but your photos are waking me up a bit. And the children are incredibly beautiful.
Viewing nature is a mini mental vacation for me. And the grandkids? Why, they are always perfect!
I’ve no doubt they are! My post is up today, re the 23rd Psalm, Jerusalem Bible version.
