There’s a reason why I have the same style of blog here since I started: I settle in, get comfortable, and the newest and greatest is not that tempting.
So you can probably tell that the new reader format is unsettling my settled self.
The info that was on the left is now on the right. Okay, I can adapt in a dyslexic kind of way.
But it is confusing whose blog it is and which title goes with which picture. Oh, yeah, I catch on every so often, but then I lose it again and wonder whose LIKE I am really liking.
I may resort back to carrier pigeon to get my words out.
I am so with you on this! I hate it when they change stuff around. Drives me nuts!
It’s the FB virus, I guess. Speaking of change 🙂 your name is different!
Confusing, is the right word, very hard to follow, not a change for the better.
We have some bored techy nerds perhaps. 🙂
I agree!!!!!!!!!!!
🙂
I am so with you on this … driving me crazy — I cannot seem to find what I want!! 😀
It is really odd.
have a happy, prosperous, kind New year, ms. lily… keep well. 🙂
And you, too!
😉 🙂
btw, i don’t do change well, too. and am not a senior citizen yet, at least, biologically… 😉 oh, well. hello, ms. lily!
I must still be in La La LAnd, but what changes are you talking about?
Look under your READER function where you can see all the blogs you follow. It is very different. The icons and blog names are small, and it’s hard to see sometimes which pic belongs to which name. Freshly Pressed is displayed differently now, too.
I’ve always gotten notifications via email, but I do see the difference in the reader. I’ve never been quite happy with how it works.
I have some that come into my email, but the bulk I use in reader so as not to fill up my email. So I use reader all the time.
I agree with you, and what I dislike most is that the photos are chopped up.. yesterday a beautiful heron that someone posted had its head and lower body chopped off. not a change for the better, I do hope that they take the criticisms to heart and go back to the previous Reader.
So do you think this criticism post will get Freshly pressed? 🙂
😀 I don’t know about that, but I’m sure others are voicing their criticisms.
I have yet to see the change on the Reader and I just started actively using it a couple+ weeks ago. I think they roll these things out in spurts and my time will come.
There is an uproar in the forums. Add your voice there…

In the past whenever folk are unhappy about WordPress changes, they’ll say something to the effect of, “Yes, you’re not happy, but we have ___ millions of users, who have not complained. ” Oh and remember, wordpress.com (Which is what we are) is the guinea pig for wordpress.org (for those who pay for their own servers).
As long as my Dashboard is left alone, I won’t complain about the reader… too much.
Interesting that you can’t see it yet.
A blogging friend posted a picture of what she thinks is a Cooper’s Hawk. To me the head color is different than the ones I’ve seen. Can you tell if it is, or if it is some other kind?

I would agree with the ID. This one is a younger one, in its first year I believe. They are brown with the streaks on the breast. We had a young one traipsing around the yard this summer.
Oh, I am still on the old reader. I don’t get it…
What made me wonder is that the head is almost like a hooded brown, and mine have not been like that. I have enough trouble ID-ing without throwing young and old into the mis! 🙂
I am with you entirely. It is a wrong step.
I wonder who arranges these changes. A user?
Wonks who want to show their peers how smart they are (and who can blame them.)
That’s why they get the big bucks. 🙂
My sentiments exactly. Why do they always mess with things that were working just fine?
I am so tech-savvy that I don’t even know what the reader is.
Under the top left W. Mmm, that sounded like a movie excerpt–under the big double-u. Mad, Mad World. 🙂
I agree…..It’s hard to keep going when I’m constantly unsure of who I’m reading!
Yeah, it gets confusing.
The new changes make me feel disconnected with fellow bloggers. They are messing things up for so many, I cannot get settled into it.
I know. Me, too.
a couple of other things are that they used to give a few lines from the post, now if it is a photo post, most times there are no lines from the post.. also you used to be able to block “mature” blogs from the Reader.. I can’t find a place to do that anymore. and the blog author is now on the bottom instead of the top.. it is very confusing.
Yes, it is. I hope they change back or at least improve it.
You are soooooo right!!! Everything runs into each other. Confusing! How do we complain?
Look above and use the link to the bloggers forum, or standing up, stomping your feet, and yelling works almost as well. 🙂
So True.
🙂
So far I am still ok on the old reader. Maybe because we use Linux, instead of Windows??? Maybe because we are in the boonies? 😀
Oh, a couple people are still liking posts from their Readers, so I suspect some are figuring this out. They are people who have semi-regularly liked before this change.. It does sound like the staff could do something to improve it, though.
You just have to work harder at figuring it out and keeping track where you are. I hope they switch it back.
I like your background. Thanks for stopping by and the like of my interpretation of Illumination in the Weekly Photo Challenge. I liked myself on my on site when I first set it up trying to figure out how others would be able to do it. I tried to unlike myself, but apparently I got it wrong.
It’s okay; you’re allowed to like yourself. 🙂
I thought it was just a Blonde ME having problems following and keeping up glad I found you on my list I made on Google reader 🙂
Eunice
🙂 Not a blonde moment; just some techy people trying to fiddle.
🙂 Man was I lost 🙂 I set up a page to sell photos and a facebook page came back and could not find anyone ::(
Wow…weird.
🙂 I did away with CHROME and Went back to Mozilla maybe that is where my button went but I do hate getting your comments in my unread now I have to click on each heading to find everyone’s lol LIKE FACEBOOK 🙂
I guess we ought not complain about something we get for free 🙂 but a person gets used to it and change is hard–especially change that is not a step forward.
AMEN!
Ditto
Wonderful post, you express your thoughts so beautifully .Thank you for liking my post.Sincerely jalal
Well, all good things must come to an end. I was losing functionality on the Reader, so went to the forum for help. You know what they just did?! Yeah, put me on the new reader. I do not know, for sure but think it was my operating system. They changed everything for all you Windows people, but didn’t think of us lowly Linux users. Well, they now put this Linux person into the same state of misery as you all. (Big assumption, but cannot think of anything else that kept me on the old reader) I think the thing that bothers me the most is the blue admin bar and how hard it was to find the Dashboard, which isn’t even called Dashboard, but “blog-admin”.
Ah, welcome to the . . whatever it is! I’m more used to it now, but still do not like it.
