We Interupt This Program . . .

015 - Copy

We (royal we, I guess) interrupt this previously scheduled program of Descanso Gardens shots–all flowers, all the time–to bring you this new very yellow visitor to my yard.  It looks like a Northern (Bullock’s) Oriole.  A new one for my bird list.  The orioles we had growing up were what I thought all orioles were–Baltimore Orioles.  But this guy is a new one for me.  So happy he came for a moment to add color to my zero-scape–I mean, xeriscape–back yard!

Also, I so appreciate that the back neighbors don’t winter prune their roses.  How else would we have so much of their color peeking over the fence.

What a gorgeous guy! You have a never-ending birdshow outside your window!
We used to–but now we have squirrels, lots of them. They are fun, too, but not nearly as pretty.

  7. What a pretty bird. We keep getting the same birds here. I’m waiting for something new to show up.

    • There was a new little bird in the cypress yesterday; but he was small, so he may be a baby-something of a species I already have seen. Male, female, baby, teen?? So hard to figure it all out.

  8. I don’t mind interruptions of this kind, Pretty!
