      He let me get really close. It’s the first time I’ve seen deer at Descanso.

        They must really be hungry to forage so close to residential areas.

          Descanso Gardens is all fenced in, so the deer are either there all the time or jump the fences. The classic rose gardens have high deer fences to protect the foliage at night. This was the first time we have seen them out, and they were bold as they ate camelia leaves. They are used to people being around and probably feel more safe.

          Sounds like Royal Gorge. We went once – didn’t go into the park because of the cost – but enjoyed the view from the fence. How can they charge for God’s handiwork? Anyway, all the wildlife there came right up to people for “snacks” they too had lost their fear of humans.
