A couple of nights ago, I dreamed of ticks crawling on me. At least, I didn’t wake up in a panic or anything. I noticed in the earlier post you have Monarchs already. Neat. 🙂

  No to ticks!!!! That is actually a Painted Lady. We seldom see Monarchs around here anymore. American Lady butterflies and Painted Ladies mostly.

    This is a Monarch. 🙂 See the mitten? We learned that little tip to tell them apart from Viceroys and if you were to tag one, you put the little sticker on the mitten.

      Oh, you are right! Wow. Because I don’t see them here anymore and always see Painted Ladies, I was blind to the patterning! Crazy. Thanks. I just edited a painted lady, and I don’t know why I didn’t see this. 🙂

      Let me find a photo of my own and I’ll email you to it with the mitten highlighted. That is wonderful you have them again. Their numbers rose a little from the lowest amount ever, only 6 million came down to Mexico in 2013.

      I got pics last year, but that was almost 200 miles away. I really did not expect to see them here ever again! Fun! I hope they stay!
