My Book of Uncommon Prayers: To Your Loving Life

Another morning is here to lay at Your feet–

all the pain and thought traffic of this world.

From weak hands to Your strong loving life,

I unburden myself, unfasten my load.

In my gnawing weakness,

You are strong in me.

In my inability and short-sightedness,

You work creatively to make

all things right.

Beautiful. It is when I see roses that I always think to myself, “And you don’t believe in God? Really?”

    • Absolutely! Love all the variations of color and texture . . . let alone the fragrance!

      • susansplace says:

I know! The fragrance! Isn’t that amazing, when you think about it? How did nature come up with those fragrances, and how do they happen…… :} We need a scientist to post that for us!

        • Either there are little elves whose only job is to scent each rose each and every night so that silly humans think it is natural and part of the package OR God made them this way. I always wonder, though, if this is the beauty of fallenness, how much more lovely must they have been as perfect.

        • susansplace says:

OK, now you’re getting heavy! I always thought that the fallenness had to do with us humans; the flowers are perfect!

        • Nature is also groaning for things to be put right. I love the beauty of nature, but I am always overwhelmed with the thought of how it must have been and how it will be restored. If this is the imperfect, we will be blown away by the perfect! 🙂 Think how gorgeous mountains are, but many are a result of upshifts in the earth’s crust from tectonic activity. Yet we see amazing beauty there. It must only be a whisper of what the original design was.

love your words.. and love your photos.. the flowers and fence are just beautiful, and we see clouds the same way..

  3. “thought traffic”, that is a word picture I can understand. It seems I have quite a traffic jam in my head that too often hinders country road thinking.

Your roses are beautiful! We do not have any here, but did back in Omaha.

  4. I like all the photos, but I particularly like the one of the roses peeking out from behind bars.
